Frequently Asked Questions about our Hot Tubs

Do all the barns have a private hot tub? Yes. Each of our three luxury barns has its own private wood-fired hot tub, beautifully positioned to make the most of our countryside views. Whether you're soaking beneath the stars, enjoying a glass of something bubbly at sunset or warming up after a countryside walk, the hot tub is an important part of the Mount Pleasant experience.

What makes your hot tubs 'eco-tubs'? Our hot tubs are wood-fired rather than electrically heated. There’s something wonderfully relaxing about the gentle crackle of the fire, the natural warmth and the experience of heating your own tub before settling in for a soak. They are sometimes described as an "eco hot tub" because they don't rely on an electric heater or pump to heat the water. Instead, sustainably sourced wood provides the heat, making them a more natural and potentially lower-energy way to enjoy a hot tub.

How do we light the hot tub? It's much easier than you might think! You'll find everything you need at the barn, including an unlimited supply of logs and firelighters, which are included in your stay. You'll be given simple instructions on how to light and manage the fire, and once you've done it once, you'll soon get the hang of it. Think of it as part of the experience rather than a chore!

Is it difficult to light a wood-fired hot tub? Not at all. Our guests often worry that it will be complicated, but the process is straightforward and we'll provide clear instructions. The key is simply allowing enough time for the water to heat and keeping the fire going as required. Once it's up to temperature, it's time to get in, relax and enjoy.

Do we need to bring our own wood? No. We've got you covered. An unlimited supply of logs and firelighters is included in the rental price, so there is no need to arrive with a car full of firewood.

Are the hot tubs pre-filled? Yes. Your hot tub will be filled ready for you to use. We use fresh spring water from our well for the most natural way to soak in your tub. As they are wood-fired, you'll need to allow time for the water to heat to your preferred temperature unless you have booked our pre-lighting service.

Can our hot tub be lit before we arrive? Yes. If you'd rather skip the waiting and get straight into holiday mode, our hot tub pre-lighting service can be arranged ahead of your arrival. We'll get your tub heated and ready so that you can settle in and start relaxing as soon as you arrive. This is particularly popular for guests arriving later in the day or celebrating a special occasion. There is a small charge for this service and it must be pre-arranged and paid for ahead of your stay.

How long does the hot tub take to heat up? Allow approximately 2-4 hours for the tub to heat, although this can vary depending on the weather, the starting temperature of the water and how efficiently the fire is maintained. If you don't want to wait for it to heat, our pre-lighting service is the perfect option.

How long does the hot tub stay warm? Once heated, the tubs retain their warmth for several hours, and you can keep the temperature topped up by maintaining the fire. You can replace the insulated cover to keep the heat in. As with any wood-fired hot tub, the temperature will naturally vary depending on outside temperatures, wind and how often the tub is used. We provide guidance so you can get the best from your tub throughout your stay.

How many people can each hot tub seat? The tubs are sized to suit each individual barn: The Shooting Lodge: perfect for two The Piggery: perfect for two The Coach House: seats 6- 8 The Big Barn: seats up to 6-8 The Coach House hot tub is particularly fabulous for groups, giving everyone the chance to soak, chat and enjoy the countryside together.

Can we use the hot tubs all year round? Absolutely. Our wood-fired hot tubs are designed to be enjoyed throughout the year. In summer, they're perfect for long evenings, sunset drinks and stargazing. In autumn and winter, there's something especially magical about stepping into warm water while the countryside around you is cold and crisp. And on a clear winter night, the combination of hot water, countryside views and a sky full of stars is hard to beat.

Is there anything we need to bring for the hot tub? No need to pack anything special. We provide the logs and firelighters, and hot tub towels are provided for your convenience. All you need to bring is your swimming costume, something warm and cosy to put on afterwards – and perhaps a bottle of fizz!

Can we use the hot tub at night? Yes. In fact, evening is one of our favourite times to enjoy them. Switch off from the day, climb into the warm water and look up at the stars. With very little light pollution around us, the night sky can be spectacular.

What is the Pure Indulgence Hot Tub Spa Package? Our Pure Indulgence Hot Tub Spa Package has been designed to turn your hot tub into your own private spa experience. The package includes a premium bottle of champagne and a luxury Himalayan rock salt soak scented with neroli, mandarin, lavender and rosemary essential oils. As the salts dissolve, they create a gentle spa-like aroma designed to help you relax and unwind. Pour a glass of champagne, sink into the warm water, breathe in the beautiful fragrance and let the countryside do the rest. It's a lovely addition for anniversaries, birthdays, proposals, romantic breaks or simply when you fancy treating yourselves. Can we arrange the Pure Indulgence Package before our stay? Yes. The Pure Indulgence Package can be arranged as an additional extra for your stay. It's also a lovely surprise if you're booking a break for someone else. Ask us about adding the package to your booking.

Why choose a wood-fired hot tub? Because it's not just about getting into warm water – it's about the whole experience. There's the anticipation while the fire heats the water, the satisfying glow of the flames, the natural warmth, the peaceful countryside setting and finally that wonderful moment when you climb in and simply switch off. It's a slower, more natural way to enjoy a hot tub and one that fits perfectly with our countryside setting.

What happens if I have never used a wood-fired hot tub before? Don't worry! You're certainly not alone. We'll provide straightforward instructions on lighting and managing the fire, and you'll have everything you need at the barn. And if you'd rather arrive with the tub already hot, simply book our pre-lighting service.

What's the best time to use the hot tub? That's entirely up to you – and that's the beauty of having your own private tub. Enjoy a morning soak with a coffee, warm up after a country walk, watch the sunset with a glass of fizz or head outside after dark for an unforgettable stargazing soak. There really isn't a bad time for a hot tub at Mount Pleasant. Anything else we should know? Just one thing: allow yourself plenty of time to enjoy it! Our hot tubs are all about slowing down, enjoying the countryside and making the most of your time together. So light the fire, pour yourself a drink, sit back and let the stresses of everyday life melt away. Sip. Soak. Unwind. That's the Mount Pleasant way.

How often do you change the water? The water is drained, the tubs cleaned and hygienically refreshed and filled with clean fresh water from our on-site spring for EVERY new guest stay so you can be sure you are the first (and the last) people to soak in your hot tub water.
