Booking T&C's

Please note, all bookings are subject to the following terms and conditions.

A contract between you and the owner will come into existence when payment is received and a booking confirmation is issued showing the confirmed holiday dates. The contract binds you & all the members of your party. It is your responsibility to ensure that all members of your party accept the terms of the contract set out in these terms & conditions of booking. Failure to disclose all relevant information or comply with these terms may lead to termination of the contract & loss of the booking.

This section covers bookings made via our website.

Bookings and payments

  • 25% non-refundable booking deposit – paid when you make your booking

  • Balance – paid 6 weeks before your holiday plus an additional refundable £200 damage deposit

  • Bookings made less than 6 weeks in advance will be charged in full

We reserve the right to cancel your reservation without refunding your deposit if we don’t receive the full balance on time.

Bookings cannot be accepted from persons under eighteen years of age.

The owner reserves the right to refuse a booking without giving any reason.

Security deposit: As standard we hold a £200 security deposit on your credit/debit card to protect against damages to the property or its contents during your stay. No money is taken from your card on booking. Should damages have occurred during your stay, you will be advised if this is the case and only at this point will monies be taken to cover the damage. If there are no damages, the security deposit will be automatically released after check out.

Methods of payment

Payments can be made by Visa or Mastercard on our website. They are handled securely via Holiday Rent Payments Ltd and we do not see your card details. If we need to issue a refund, we will do so via your original payment method.

Cancellations & Refunds

You can cancel your booking or change your dates by phone, on the website, or by emailing hello@mountpleasantbarns.co.uk but not by post.

Cancellation fees and refund options are as follows:

Provided we receive notification before the balance of rental is due 30 days prior to your arrival, then only your 25% deposit will be forfeited.

However, after this date you will be liable to pay the total cost of your booking. If you have paid by credit card your account will be charged in the case of a cancellation.

We will do our best to re-let and if successful we will refund your balance less your 25% deposit and a £50 admin fee. If you cancel your booking on or after your arrival date, we will not issue you any refund for any remaining nights of your booking.

We strongly advise that you take out comprehensive travel insurance to cover cancellations. If you choose not to, then you accept responsibility for any loss that you may incur due to your cancellation. We cannot provide refunds if your travel plans are disrupted (eg by bad weather, road closures, cancelled services); or if you have to cancel due to illness, including Covid.

Your booking will not be cancelled by the owner except in exceptional circumstances beyond our control. Notification will be given of the cancellation as soon as possible and we will promptly refund all payments made for your holiday. Our liability for cancellation will be limited to payments made to us.

This section covers all bookings made via our website and/or through online bookers eg AirBnB.

    • The Shooting Lodge and The Piggery at any time must not exceed 2 persons, 1 infant in a cot and 2 small-medium sized dogs

    • The Coach House at any time must not exceed 6 persons, 1 infant in a cot and 2 small-medium sized dogs

    • The Big Barn at any time must not exceed 8 persons, 1 infant in a cot and 2 small-medium sized dogs

Only those listed on the booking form can occupy the property. We reserve the right to terminate the booking without notice and without refund in case of a breach of this condition.

  • You may have daytime visitors during your stay, but they are not permitted to stay overnight.

  • We or our representatives reserve the right to enter the property at any time to undertake essential maintenance or for inspection purposes.

  • Tenancies normally commence at 4pm unless otherwise agreed and guests are required to vacate the rental by 10am on the day of departure. This allows the accommodation to be thoroughly cleaned and prepared for incoming guests. It may be possible to arrange an early check-in or late check-out by prior arrangement with the owners. This will incur a small additional fee to cover the housekeeping re-scheduling costs incurred by the owners.

  • No parties or events are permitted unless by prior agreement with the owners.

Dogs

Up to 2 housetrained dogs are welcome. There is an additional charge of £25 per dog.
Please do not allow dogs on the beds under any circumstances. Evidence of this will result in an additional deep cleaning charge of £50 deducted from your damage deposit. If your dog must sit on the sofa then please use the supplied throws, and/or your own dog blankets to cover the sofa to prevent the transfer of hair and dirt.

Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. It is not acceptable to leave dog dirt anywhere on the property. Please use bins provided.

Do not leave dogs unattended in the property at any time unless they are crated. You may borrow a crate from us subject to availability.

Please keep dogs limited to the confines of the area of your property. We are surrounded by farmland and farm animals and it is therefore not possible for them to roam freely around the wider property.

Damages

The safety of all our guests comes first, so please let the owners know of any damage to furniture, electrical items or anything which may compromise the safety of future guests.

We know accidents happen and we don’t charge for minor breakages (glasses, crockery, ornaments etc) or fair wear and tear, or if an appliance chooses to break down while you are with us.

A security deposit of £200 is held on your credit card and will be returned within 5 days of the end of your holiday, less the cost of damage/breakages should that be necessary.

Should it be necessary, we will discuss  with you any significant damage such as broken furniture, or specialist cleaning for upholstery or carpets, and we reserve the right to charge these against your damage deposit at cost, or to claim the full costs from you if exceptional. The accommodation will be inspected at the end of your stay. The owner reserves the right to make a charge to cover additional cleaning costs if the client leaves the property in an unacceptable condition.

Complaints

Please tell us straight away about any problems. We want you and our future guests to have as lovely a time as possible, and we work hard to put anything right immediately. Please note that we rely on trusted local trades people who may not be available at short notice, overnight or at the weekend. Sometimes replacement items are not available locally which can cause delays.

We cannot consider compensation for complaints raised after you leave or if you won’t let us try to put things right while you are with us.

Limitation of liability

We cannot accept liability for any injury, loss or damage, consequential or otherwise suffered by you or any other member of your party, unless there was wilful default by us or our employees, or unless personal injury or death was caused by our negligence.

As the person placing the booking, you agree to take full responsibility for the safety of all members of your party, your visitors, and any animals you bring with you, and agree to completely free the owners of Mount Pleasant Barns, their employees, agents and representatives from any liability, loss, damage or expense, including without limitation, legal fees and cost of litigation, resulting from any accidents or incidents relating to the open water occurring at Mount Pleasant Barns or while staying there.

Disclosure

Failure to disclose all relevant information or comply with these terms may lead to termination of the contract and loss of booking without a refund.

Insurance

Please make sure you have adequate travel insurance covering travel arrangements within the UK, and covering healthcare if you are visiting from abroad.

Please lock the cottage and close the windows whenever you go out because we cannot be held responsible for any accidents, break-ins or theft within the cottage during your stay.
